Week 1 Literary/Personal Nonfiction Overview
Week 2 Write an autobiography/memoir about our years at Milton using powerpoint. Due Thursday August 20th. We will share Thursday and Friday.
Week 3 *Locate Information for Writing Biographies *Write a biography on the person of your choice.
Week 4 and 5 **Make a Personal Timeline (you will need personal pictures for this - bring in early to scan) *Write a Personal Narrative/Autobiographical Incident
Week 5 *Revision *Student Evaluation *Publish to our Class Website

Time Frame: 4 to 5 weeks Unit Description: The unit focuses on reading, comprehending, interpreting, responding, writing nonfiction, focusing on biography, autobiography, and the personal essay. Biographies and autobiographies will be analyzed for defining characteristics and writing techniques. Writing and presenting an autobiography provides an opportunity for student application of the writing process. Researching biographies/autobiographies and writing reports/essays will provide opportunities for students' acquisition of informational, technological, and problem-solving skills. Vocabulary development and grammar instruction will occur within the context of the literature and student writing.
