In room 109 we strive for positive behavior by:
Students can earn Starbucks by making good choices in and outside the classroom. These are given by me, administration, other teachers and bus drivers. The students put their name on the Starbucks and save it for Thursday's when the Kiosk store is open for them to shop.
We also work on whole class behavior by hanging a banana on our tree anytime all the students in our classroom make good choices. This can be in our classroom if we have a visitor or outside of the classroom. Once they earn 20 bananas they get to vote on a type of party (ie popcorn, pizza, ice cream, etc.) WHAT A TREAT!
I always strive to focus on the positive and get a student to make good choices by rewarding someone, but if a child continues to make a choice that is not in his/her best interest or in the class' best interest, they will move their clip.
#1 - green: great day (Perfect behavior) #2 - green: good day (This means that I had to remind them of their behavior) #3 - yellow: They will not receive treats for the day (reminded more than once) #4 - yellow: time out (unacceptable behavior - they will miss fun things) #5 - red: miss recesses (unacceptable behavior - they will do punish work) #6 - red: lunch detention (unacceptable behavior - Mrs. Kebodeaux or Mrs. Nunez will need to talk with them.)
Every child begins a new day on green. If they receive a yellow or red, they cannot go into treasure chest on Friday.
I am hoping that this new system will help with the behaviors in our classroom. Thanks to Mrs. Broussard for helping me establish a more concrete behavior plan.
**Also, thank you to the parents who make sure that the behaviors in the classroom are addressed at home accordingly. Please make sure you praise your child if they are consistent with their great behavior!!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Juneau
