Milton Elem/Middle school was recently honored by the Lafayette Parish
School Board as a School of Exemplary Academic Growth. Our new school
score of 121.1 gives us a four star rating. There are only six schools
with such a rating in Lafayette Parish. It takes teamwork to create such
excellence! We can all be proud of our students, faculty, staff, parents,
and community supporters.
On October 19, 2010, a Quality Review Team visited our school to
evaluate Lafayette Parish's Accreditation status. Only 10 schools were
picked for an on-site visit. The review included visits to classrooms, a
tour of the campus, and focus group interviews. Students, parents and
community supporters, teachers and administrators were all
interviewed. It is no surprise that the review of our four star school
was very successful. The committee said they wished they could have
talked with our students "all day!" They enjoyed meting with everyone and
took new ideas back to their own school districts. Teamwork, once again,
made the review so successful. Parents served on focus committees,
prepared refreshments for the visitors and for our students, and helped
give our library a top to bottom spring cleaning! We truly appreciate
everyone working to make our visit so successful! One of the members of
the review team said she learned that if she were going to have a child, she
should invest in property in the Milton community! What an excellent
review!
