Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are playing a math game called "Ready, Set, Go with Math."
The goal of this game is to help your child add quickly without using
their fingers, and having fun at the same time.  We are starting
with the addition facts first.  If time permits, we will also include
subtraction facts.

This is how the game is played:

Each student will be driving their own "car".  Everyone will start at
the starting line.  Each day students will be given 20 addition facts
that they will have to complete in one minute.  We will start out with
addition facts with 0, then 1,2, all the way to 10.  Each time your
child gets all 20 problems correct in one minute, they will earn
"$1.00".  Students will buy treats with this pretend money.

Believe it or not, you are also included in this game.  Your part is to
assist your child in practicing their facts and timing them as they
practice.  If your child does not have all the 20 facts correct in one
minute, they will come home with their facts list to practice at home.
They will try again until they get them all correct.  Students will
move onto the next addition fact once they have mastered the
previous facts.  You can print additional math fact sheets by clicking
on the number fact below.

In the end, this game is really all about memorization, and I think
that this is a fun way to memorize the math facts, as well as to
prepare them for second grade.

As usual, thanks for your support and cooperation.  You play an
important role in your child's success.  I hope you will enjoy doing this
activity with your child.

Thanks -

Mrs. Phillips
